PAG-ASA SCHOLARS, PART 3

Aiming for the Best

SOFIA ANNE EDERA: I am a fourth-year graduating Political Science student at St. Paul University Surigao and I am planning to pursue Law after I graduate from college.

The unfortunate COVID Pandemic is not a hindrance against achieving my dreams and having a better future.

That’s because Pag-asa has been a blessing for me.

I am the eldest in our family. My dad finished senior high school and my mom is a housewife.

Pag-asa paved the way for me to strive harder in life. Being a scholar is not only the foundation for fulfilling my dreams. The scholarship has ignited a burning passion in me to become a catalyst of change. It inspired me to be a significant example to the youth. It reminded me of God’s great plan for me and I believe that is to help the youth– to be their voice to make an impact in the world.

Pag-asa has taught me never stop aiming for the best. Why would you go for little when you can always go for the best?

That is why I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you so much to the Foundation, most especially to the Board Members. Thank you for inspiring me to be an instrument in helping future students like me. Thank you so much.

RENZ GOTO: I am 21 years old, residing on Talim Island.

I am already an orphan, now under the care of an aunt.

Before my father passed on, he told me it’s no longer possible that I would continue my studies. So, I actually thought I would never go to college. I completely lost hope.

But then Pag-asa chose me as one of its scholars.

One thing I’ve learned is that we always have to be grateful. We always have to aim for the best.

Now, I am devoted in helping other people.  Thank you, po.
